Ephemeral by definition means “lasting a very short time”. It was brought to my attention while searching for a word that could best describe the “shape” or nature of smoke, such as that arising from a blown out candle. This PARTICULAR visual of smoke is one that for a while has felt spiritual to me. the way it dances through the air until ultimately disappearing entirely except for the smell it leaves behind, lingering long after it’s gone. It suddenly made sense to me why incense has been used in spiritual practices for thousands of years. to me, this album is the embodiment of an ephemeral existence. Using strings, piano, woodwinds and sound design elements, I've weaved together an album that's as much of a cinematic journey as it as ballet as it is meditation.
